The New Old Fashioned is thrilled to announce a workshop collaboration with Lindsey Buck, the calligrapher and artist behind The Hive Studio. She will be offering intimate workshops teaching the basics of calligraphy, creating and developing your own calligraphy style, and adding a unique touch to your events and stationery.

Classes offered:

Calligraphy 101 Workshop - $80
Friday, May 16th, 6:30pm - 9pm at Cultureworks
This intimate workshop starts with the basics — how to correctly hold your pen, dipping into your ink, understanding ink flow & pressure to paper, practicing the alphabet — and lead to developing your own calligraphy handwriting style.

Event Calligraphy 101 Workshop - $120
Saturday, May 17th, 10am - 2pm at Cultureworks
This workshop starts with the basics from the Calligraphy 101 class and will lead to developing your own calligraphy style for correspondence and events. We will practice scribing words & phrases, addressing envelopes, practice phrases for various events (table cards, name cards, menus), all while using colored ink (which we will also cover how to mix your inks)! And finally, we will cover how to transform your calligraphy digitally using Photoshop &/or Illustrator to use in logos, invitations and everything in between.  

A little about Lindsey:
Lindsey Buck is the calligrapher & artist behind The Hive Studio, where she creates custom artwork & calligraphy projects for various clients, events, & editorials. She fell in love with the art of calligraphy when she realized its genuine & beautiful way to send joy to others & help keep the art of the handwritten letter alive--there’s something beautiful about a thought to a hand to a pen to a paper that makes it so timeless & special, & is a lost art. She started learning 5 years ago before opening up shop, & has developed a passion for sharing this beautiful & classic art form ever since. She recently moved back home to Southern Ohio from Philadelphia last Fall, & has since been teaching calligraphy workshops in her local towns. Her calligraphy has been featured in various projects, floorsets, & catalogs while working for Anthropologie, & has also been featured in Woman’s Day Magazine, Babble, 100 Layer Cakelet, & other various blogs & weddings.
